Specific BRIDGES Test Subjects Wanted for FTDNA Y-DNA Research Project.

Specific males named BRIDGES who are biological descendants of BRIDGES men listed below are needed as Y chromosome DNA test subjects in this genealogical project. A proven ancestor chart is required from the test subject for this project.

Benjamin Bridges b. ca 1745/55 d. ca 1820s Greenville District, S. C. ---------- Benjamin Bridges moved by 1778 from Granville Co., NC to the area located about ten to twenty miles south of Shelby, NC, which was then in Tryon Co., NC and near Buffalo Creek in upper Camden District, SC, in area sometimes known as the "New Acquisition" after the boundary survey of 1772, which became York Co., now Cherokee Co. SC. Benjamin was named in the 1781 Camden District will (now of Kershaw Co. registry) of his brother Thomas Bridges. Benjamin lived on Shoal Creek in then Rutherford Co. NC ca 1784-1787 until he sold his land and moved to Greenville Dist. SC, where he lived west of Paris Mountain, north of the town of Greenville, and was associated with Reedy River Baptist Church. Benjamin appears in the deeds and census of Greenville District unti his death in the early 1820s. The census reports that he had children. His burial place is not documented to this researcher.

James Bridges, Sr. b. ca 1745 d. ca 1792 York Distict, SC -- married to Lydia Roberts Lashley; or descendant of their son: James Bridges, Jr. b. Oct. 4, 1773 Granville Co. NC, d. July 11, 1816 York Dist., SC. -- married to Nancy Quin. The project does not need another test subject descendant of Linas Hall Bridges b. 1809, as descendants of two of Linas' sons have been tested, and match each other, and are posted in Group 6. John Bridges b. ca 1720s d. ca 1788/89 on Balls Creek in Lincoln (now Catawba) Co., NC. Birth place is unknown. Lived ca 1740s in Orange Co. VA, northern VA; m. ca 1740s in VA, Margaret Perkins (dau of Elisha Perkins & Margaret Sherrill), and moved prior to 1760 to Balls Creek just west of the Catawba River (east of Hickory, NC) in Rowan/Burke/Lincoln Co. NC. Lived near wife's Perkins and Sherrill families. Children; including 3 sons: Elisha Bridges Sr. b. ca 1750, Phillis Bridges (m. Charles Walker), David Bridges b. ca 1740s , Martha Bridges (m. Richard Perkins), Catharine Bridges (m. James Walker), Elizabeth Bridges (m. April 10, 1764 Peter Lowrance b. ca 1736), Ann Bridges m. Balsser Cale or Kale, and William Bridges b. ca 1740s.

Bridger surnamed men who descend from Rev. Lawrence Bridger of Slimbridge, England or from his male Brldger Y-DNA cousins in England, who did not live in Isle of Wight Co., VA. Refer to chart in link at Bridger of England. Refer to FTDNA Bridge/r/s test group 2 and group 7.
